Meet the Team

Jess Cooney, Principal and Founder

As the principal and founder of Jess Cooney Interiors, Jess has led her team as head designer on construction and custom furnishings projects for the past 21 years. Her team has received national attention for their designs and has been featured in prominent publications such as Architectural Digest, Martha Stewart Living, HGTV, and the New York Times. Jess is passionate about renovating older homes, smart green new construction, and designing custom built-ins and furnishings for her clients. Her signature style is a blend of classic, modern, and rustic design, creating elegant yet functional spaces.

Lauren Cresswell, Creative Director

Lauren brings a varied background in urban design, policy, and visual arts to her role as creative director. With extensive experience in both residential and commercial projects, she manages varied scopes of work and helps coordinate JCI's marketing and branding strategies.

Rachel Duchesne, Senior Designer

Rachel has an extensive background in luxury residential interior and private club design, as well as commercial design experience in daycare, office, and medical settings. She has also taught Interior Design and AutoCAD at RISD and CCCT. Rachel earned her BA in English Literature with a Minor in Art and Religion from Bucknell University and her Master's in Interior Design from Drexel University.

Leila Hirvonen, Senior Project Manager

Leila relocated to the Berkshires from upstate New York, bringing 13 years of experience at Manhattan design firms. She has worked on a wide range of projects, from private renovations to large-scale commercial and residential new construction. Influenced by Scandinavian design, she enjoys crafting warm, layered living spaces with an eye toward sustainability and longevity.

Benjamin Anderson, Senior Project Manager

Benjamin, originally from Illinois, holds an MFA in Interior Design from the New York School of Interior Design. He specializes in high-end residential design, managing numerous projects in NYC and the Hudson Valley. Benjamin believes that well-designed interiors foster meaningful connections between clients and their spaces.

As a principal and founder of Jess Cooney Interiors, Jess has led her team as head designer on construction and custom furnishings projects for the past 21 years. Jess is passionate about renovating older homes, smart green new construction, and designing custom built-ins and furnishings for her clients. She is a dedicated mother of three and lives in a historic home in Great Barrington with her husband and children. She is an active member of the local community and serves as Vice President of the Berkshire Hills Soccer Club and a board member of the Railroad Street Youth Project, Berkshire County Youth Soccer League, and the Great Barrington Fair Grounds Committee.
