Southern Structures, Inc. is a vertically integrated modular building manufacturer, offering a wide range of custom, commercial, and residential modular buildings. With over four decades of experience, our company has built a reputation for delivering high-quality, consistent, and efficient modular constructions. Our story began in the early 1960s when our founder, Hugh A. Stump Jr., recognized the potential of modular construction to revolutionize the building industry.

Our History

Southern Structures, Inc. was founded by Hugh A. Stump Jr. in the early 1960s as a contracting company, building room additions and small projects one at a time. Mr. Stump's vision was to make modular construction faster, with consistent quality, and with less complications than site-built construction. After purchasing buildings from other manufacturers for about a decade, Mr. Stump decided to open a company-owned manufacturing facility to ensure that our high standards were met.

Our Facilities

In 1978, SSI opened its first manufacturing plant in Ocala, Florida, which was later expanded to accommodate growing demand. In 1995, the company relocated to a larger 10-acre facility with over 62,000 square feet of manufacturing and storage space. This move allowed us to increase our production capabilities and accommodate more complex projects.

Our Capabilities

At Southern Structures, Inc., we maintain a skilled staff of designers, estimators, and production personnel. We also employ independent professional consultants in the architectural and engineering disciplines, as well as third-party professional review and inspection firms to ensure compliance with various state regulations. Our company has provided structures for all branches of the Military and NASA, hundreds of state and local government agencies, school boards, and thousands of private individuals, corporations, dealers, and developers.

Our modular buildings range from single modules to entire complexes, including multi-story designs. We can supply structures that meet minimum code-approved construction to non-combustible, permanent steel-framed and concrete modules for specialized uses.
