Our Story

Our founder, Matt Joyce, chose to name our company after two literary giants, Kurt Vonnegut and Henry David Thoreau. This was not just a nod to their iconic status but a testament to their dedication to their craft, honesty, and compassion. Vonnegut's wit and Thoreau's resilience inspired Matt to pursue a life of purpose and meaning.

Our site supervisors, lead carpenters, and apprentice carpenters have decades of training and experience in carpentry and general contracting. We're a team of trained builders who have worked their way up the trade, honing their skills from laborer to apprentice to carpenter to master carpenter.
