At Custom Mechanical Equipment, we take pride in our commitment to providing innovative and efficient HVAC solutions to our customers. With a rich history dating back to the late 1960s, we have been pioneers in the development of multizone HVAC systems. Our story began with the concept of "hot-deck cold-deck" multizone units, which dominated the market in low-rise commercial and institutional buildings. However, as energy costs escalated in the late 1970s and early 1980s, traditional multizone systems became obsolete due to the high cost of mixing hot and cold air simultaneously.

Our Journey

In 1986, Dick Peitz, a visionary entrepreneur, conceived an idea to replace existing worn-out multizone units with multiple, highly efficient, independently controlled systems housed in a customized, rooftop penthouse structure. The first penthouse unit was field-assembled on the roof of a school in West Bend, WI in the summer of 1988. This innovative approach proved to be a game-changer, and the concept gained immense popularity. In 1999, Dick, his son Bill, and grandson Erik opened the doors of Custom Mechanical Equipment in East Troy, WI.

Our Growth

As the business grew, so did our capabilities. In 2003, we relocated to Ponca City, OK, moving into a more centrally located facility, which allowed us to better serve our nationwide customer base. This move enabled us to expand into new industries and products, including custom powder coating, mobile sandblasting, mobile power washing, and custom fabrication through our subsidiary, Custom Powder and Dustless Blasting.
