At AIA San Mateo County, we are dedicated to promoting the value of architecture and design in our community. Our chapter is composed of architects, designers, and allied professionals who share a passion for creating innovative and sustainable built environments. Our mission is to advocate for the profession, partner with our local communities to improve the quality and sustainability of the built environment, and enrich our members through the sharing of knowledge and experience.

Our Services

We offer a wide range of services to our members and the community, including:

  • Continuing education and professional development opportunities to help architects stay up-to-date with the latest advances in technology, building methods, and professional practices.
  • Community outreach and involvement programs, such as community design workshops, education programs in San Mateo County schools, and collaborative work on county projects.
  • Scholarship programs to support local students pursuing architecture careers.
  • Biennial Design Awards to recognize excellence in local architectural design.
  • Advocacy and policy support to represent the interests of architects and the built environment in public policy matters affecting communities in San Mateo County.

Our History

Founded in 1983, our chapter has a long history of serving the architectural community in San Mateo County. Over the years, we have been committed to promoting the value of architecture and design, and providing resources and support to our members and the community.

Our Team

Our team is led by Executive Director Jackie Tanner, who is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the chapter and implementing our strategic plan. Our board of directors is composed of architects and allied professionals who are dedicated to serving the needs of our members and the community.
