Building projects that matter, one relationship at a time.

Our Story

At P&J, we are a critical infrastructure contractor with a rich history spanning over 70 years. Founded in 1949 by Ted Phillips, our company has grown and evolved over the years, taking on new challenges and expanding our services to meet the needs of our clients.

Our History

Our story began when Ted Phillips, a teenager at the time, started his construction career on a TVA clearing project in 1949. Three years later, he and his brother-in-law, Ted Jordan, joined forces to form Phillips & Jordan, Inc. Our early construction efforts focused on clearing thousands of acres of land for the TVA throughout the Southeast. Throughout the 20th century, we sought opportunities to build on that experience and break into new markets.

Leadership

Today, P&J is a woman-owned business, with Avis Phillips, the wife of our founder, serving as the Chairman of the Board. With her experience in the construction industry, Avis has guided the company through internal restructuring, positioning us for continued growth and success.

Our Advantages

As a certified woman-owned critical infrastructure contractor, we pursue challenging projects that involve complex problems, difficult conditions, and aggressive schedules. Our experience and expertise enable us to provide innovative solutions that meet the needs of our clients.

Markets

We operate in five key markets: Power (Transmission & Distribution, Renewables, and Generation), Water, Mining, Industrial & Commercial, and Disaster Response. Our capabilities and expertise allow us to take on complex projects that require integrating multiple disciplines.

Our Work

Our work is diverse, with projects ranging from construction to contract mining. We are proud to have completed projects such as the C-51 Reservoir Construction, Corbett-Sugar-Quarry Transmission Line ROW Improvements, Atlanta Braves Spring Training Complex, Lake Hancock Solar, and North Fork Spillway and Embankment Improvements.

Our Values

At P&J, we believe that a company has to be built on more than just the bottom line. Our core values of Integrity, Safety, Quality, and Production guide everything we do on and off the job site. With our core values at our foundation, everything we build is stronger.
