At Blue Ridge Habitat for Humanity, we believe that everyone deserves a safe, decent, and affordable place to call home. Founded in 1942, our organization has been dedicated to building a world where everyone has access to a high-quality place to live. With a commitment to racial equality, pacifism, and economic sharing, we've made it our mission to empower families to achieve strength, stability, and independence through shelter. Our story began at Koinonia Farm, where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. often visited and spoke about the importance of racial equality. Our organization drew inspiration from the radical acceptance of all people and the economic sharing model of the farm.

Our vision is a world where everyone has access to affordable housing, where communities are strengthened by the presence of safe and decent homes, and where families are empowered to build a better future for themselves and their children.

Our Work

At Blue Ridge Habitat for Humanity, we work tirelessly to make our vision a reality. We build affordable housing for families in need, and we do it in partnership with the families themselves. Our program is designed to help low-income families achieve the American Dream by providing them with safe, affordable housing and access to essential services. We believe that everyone deserves the chance to live in a place they can call their own, and we work hard to make that happen.

Our Services

We offer a range of services designed to help families achieve strength, stability, and independence. From building sustainable homes to providing critical home repairs, we strive to create communities where everyone can thrive. Our skilled volunteers work together with local families to build homes that are safe, decent, and affordable. We also offer home ownership programs, critical home repairs, and aging in place services to help families stay in their homes as they age.

Getting Involved

There are many ways to get involved with Blue Ridge Habitat for Humanity. You can donate money, skilled labor, or goods to help us continue our mission. You can volunteer at our ReStore, where you'll find unique items at 50%-90% off retail prices. Funds raised at the ReStore go directly back into our programs, enabling us to continue building affordable housing for families in need.
