Our History

For over three decades, Ye Olde Chimney Sweep has been the trusted name in Bloomington, Indiana, and the surrounding areas for all things related to wood burning and fireplace maintenance. Our journey began in the fall of 1978 with the cleaning of my first fireplace, an experience that quickly revealed the importance of proper and thorough chimney care. The following year, a chimney fire in my own wood stove flue prompted a deep dive into the world of wood burning, ultimately leading me to become a certified chimney sweep and establish "Ye Olde Chimney Sweep" in 1980.

As one of the first 500 chimney sweeps in the United States and the first in Monroe County, Indiana, our commitment has always been to prioritize safety, education, and superior customer service. We don't dabble in other services; our dedication lies solely in providing expert chimney care. I firmly believe in staying at the forefront of the industry, continually updating my knowledge and techniques through professional training and seminars. This ensures that your fireplace or wood burning stove is not only safe but also operates efficiently and meets all current building codes.
