Our History

Our story began in the late 1990s with a simple vision: to provide exceptional fireplace service to the Greater Boston area. Driven by a passion for the warmth and ambiance fireplaces bring to homes, we started as a two-man operation, sweeping chimneys from the back of a rental truck. Back then, the world of fireplaces was vastly different. Education and training opportunities were scarce, with existing programs often inefficient and lacking in practical knowledge. Information about specific fireplace brands and installation techniques was difficult to come by, and the internet was still in its infancy.

But we were hungry to learn. We seized every opportunity to expand our knowledge, from building fireplaces from scratch during summer months to taking on temporary positions with other companies, eager to absorb as much information as possible about the evolving world of gas and pellet fireplaces. Our dedication to hands-on experience extended to cleaning dorm room fireplaces in the sweltering summer heat and even fine-tuning our installation skills by installing fireplaces for friends and family. Through these experiences, we developed a deep understanding of the nuances of fireplace technology and a commitment to providing top-notch service.

An Unexpected Turn

As our knowledge grew, a pivotal opportunity arose. A larger fireplace company sought gas service technicians and installers, and we eagerly accepted the challenge. While we had limited experience with gas fireplaces prior to taking the position, we were determined to succeed. Our first week proved successful, but the following week presented a formidable obstacle. We quickly discovered that different manufacturers utilized distinct parts, a fact that left us struggling to locate the necessary components for repairs. We found ourselves calling and writing to manufacturers, seeking training courses, technical manuals, and any information we could obtain.

It was during this period that the internet emerged as a powerful tool. We leveraged it to connect with industry experts, training resources, and potential suppliers. Through these online connections, we forged relationships with manufacturers who shared their expertise and insights, helping us to refine our understanding of what constitutes a quality fireplace.

We transitioned from part-time work while balancing full-time positions at other fireplace companies, leaving behind the endless nights and weekends to focus solely on our customers and providing exceptional service.
