History

Davis Carpet has been a fixture in the Oklahoma flooring industry for over five decades. Founded in November 1969 in Enid, Oklahoma, the company began as the dream of Ray Davis, a young man with a vision and a passion for providing quality flooring solutions. Prior to launching his own business, Ray worked as a fireman and part-time at a carpet store, gaining valuable experience and insight into the industry. At the tender age of 23 and a new father to a four-month-old daughter, Ray took a leap of faith, securing a $1,000 loan from his parents, Lee and Ellen Davis, to get his carpet business off the ground. Despite their initial trepidation, Lee and Ellen offered Ray their unwavering support as he embarked on this new and exciting chapter. After establishing a successful presence in Enid, Ray's family relocated to Bryan, Texas, where he continued to expand his business. However, when his father, Lee, fell ill, Ray felt called back to Oklahoma to be closer to his family.

Upon returning to Oklahoma, Ray searched for a suitable location to expand his growing business. He ultimately made the decision to construct an 8,000 square foot facility at 3550 N. MacArthur in Oklahoma City. Years later, the opportunity arose for Ray to sell his MacArthur building to an organization. This presented a perfect chance for Davis Carpet to relocate to a larger space capable of accommodating their continued success. After carefully considering numerous options, Ray decided to take another leap of faith and move his business from Oklahoma City to Yukon. In December 1999, Davis Carpet opened its doors to its new 12,000 square foot building at 750 East Main Street in Yukon, marking a new era for the family-owned enterprise.

Today, Davis Carpet stands as a testament to Ray Davis's vision and legacy, operated by subsequent generations of his family.
