"Dear Eric, Against all reasonable judgement as a first-time homeowner, my husband and I bought a 1970's relic that required a serious remodel to bring it into the 21st century. I had heard every remodeling horror story commonly scripted with the unscrupulous builder and the wide-eyed owners ending up in debt and unhappy with the final product.
