Established in 1973 by architect Mike Underwood, Underwood & Associates has been a premier architectural firm in the industry. With extensive experience in all phases of project design and development, our team excels at comprehensive design and construction phase services. From planning and feasibility studies through project completion and occupancy, our professional staff is dedicated to providing detailed information and excellent service to build long-term relationships with our clients.

Our team has a strong bond with the community, having provided pro bono services to organizations such as Skagit, Snohomish, and Island counties Habitat for Humanity, DanceWorks, and service clubs like Soroptimist International. We are proud to share our skills with the community and contribute to its growth and development.

Our team is led by Michael Underwood, AIA, who is the owner, design architect, and architect of record. Michael has a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from CAL POLY SLO University and has studied for a Master of Architecture at the same institution. He has operated a design/build subsidiary for 30 years and a cabinet/mill shop for five years. Michael is a member of the American Institute of Architects and has been involved in various community projects, including the City of Anacortes Downtown Arch design team and the Anacortes Main Street project.

Jeremy McNett, AIA, is also part of our team, serving as an architect. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities & Social Sciences, Political Science, Economics, Russian, & Eurasian Studies. Jeremy is a member of the American Institute of Architects and has served as a board commissioner for the Anacortes Planning Commission and the Fidalgo Parks & Recreation District. He is also a board director of the Island Hospital Foundation.

Jill Underwood, our associate architect, is an expert in Revit design and drafting. She is a NCARB registered interior design consultant and specializes in project coordination and administration.
