Henson Building Materials

For over 75 years, Henson Building Materials has been committed to being a people-focused workplace. Our story began in 1938 when Wright Bauchman Lumber Company purchased 25,000 acres in Golden Valley, Rutherford County, NC. The land was rough, and they lost one horse a day due to its condition. They organized a sawmill on Duke Street in Forest City, building five "huts" for the workers. One of these huts served as a kitchen, and the others were overnight lodging for the workers. Mr. Carl Henson, a sawmill operator from Tennessee, was hired as the Manager of the sawmill, which was later named Henson Timber Products in 1951. Today, we continue to thrive, serving Western North Carolina and Upstate South Carolina with high-quality building materials at competitive prices.
