Our Story

Metalworx Ltd. emerged in 2001, born from a management buyout of the Lighting and Trussing division of Penn Fabrication Ltd, now known as Penn Elcom. This strategic move allowed the new ownership to dedicate their time and resources to the innovative development of structural product lines, while Penn Elcom could focus on its core business of hardware manufacturing. Located in the vibrant coastal town of St. Leonards-on-Sea, East Sussex, United Kingdom, Metalworx carries forward a legacy of excellence built upon decades of industry expertise.

Since 1988, Penn Truss, the company that preceded Metalworx, had established itself as a trusted name in the world of structural systems. Its mid-range offerings perfectly bridged the gap between lightweight, decorative products and the premium, heavy-duty touring truss systems prevalent in the market. A commitment to ongoing improvement led to the introduction of groundbreaking products like the ST25 series, the 25cm square truss; the versatile "cube junction, " which revolutionized truss systems by eliminating the need for extensive junction stockpiles; winched carriage systems that provided smooth and efficient load movement; and the iconic System 2000 - a remarkably affordable structural roof system designed specifically for outdoor concerts, gaining widespread acclaim for its quality and performance.
