Our Story

Founded by Richard Beggs, AlterNative Landscaping, LLC began its journey as The Grass Company in 1987, with a focus on turf maintenance. However, as Mr. Beggs began to explore lower maintenance alternatives to traditional lawns, the company evolved to specialize in environmental landscaping practices. In 2006, we designed and installed a water conservation demonstration project for Seminole County's Water Department, showcasing the benefits of native plants and efficient irrigation systems. Since then, we have successfully transitioned numerous residential landscapes from turf-dominated spaces to lush, low-maintenance, and environmentally friendly outdoor spaces.
