Our story began in 1958 when Doyle and Dorothy Stewart opened their first store in downtown Yankton, driven by a passion for providing quality carpet solutions to the community. Recognizing the growing need for expansive showroom space, they took a bold step in 1961, constructing a brand-new building at our current location on Broadway. This move, though questioned by some, proved to be a resounding success. Throughout the years, Stewart Carpet Center has steadily grown and evolved, solidifying its reputation as Yankton's trusted flooring destination.

In 1980, Doyle and Dorothy gracefully passed the torch to their son, Gregg, and his wife, Mary Lee, who continued to build upon the foundation laid by their parents. Under their guidance, Stewart Carpet Center embraced the changing trends in the flooring industry. Recognizing the increasing popularity of hard surface options like wood, laminate, vinyl, and tile, they expanded their inventory to offer a comprehensive range of choices to their discerning clientele.
