Cover Home Repair

At COVER, we believe in fostering hope and building community in the Upper Valley. Our mission is to bring together homeowners and volunteers to complete urgently needed home repair projects, and to facilitate the reuse of household goods and building materials at The COVER Store.

COVER was founded on the principles of collaboration and community service. Our story began with a group of Dartmouth College students, other community volunteers, and a Bates College graduate who recognized the need for home repair projects that would benefit families and individuals with low incomes. Together, they decided to fill this void and create a non-profit organization dedicated to helping those in need.

Today, COVER is a thriving organization that provides a variety of services to the Upper Valley community. Our programs include Home Repair, Weatherization, and The COVER Store. Each of these programs is designed to meet the specific needs of our community and to promote a sense of unity and support among our neighbors.

Home Repair

Our Home Repair program is at the heart of what we do at COVER. We provide urgently needed home repairs for low-income homeowners at no charge. This includes a wide range of projects, such as constructing mobility ramps, replacing roofs, and weatherizing homes to make them more energy-efficient. We believe that every individual deserves a safe, warm, and dry place to call home, and we are committed to making this a reality for all members of our community.

Weatherization

In addition to our Home Repair program, we also offer Weatherization services designed to help homeowners reduce their energy consumption and lower their utility bills. This includes projects such as installing insulation, sealing air leaks, and upgrading windows and doors. By helping homeowners weatherize their homes, we can not only improve their comfort and safety, but also reduce the financial burden of heating and cooling their homes.

The COVER Store

The COVER Store is another key component of our organization. This unique retail space offers donated building materials, household goods, major appliances, and used furniture at low cost. Our goal is to provide affordable access to essential items for all members of our community, regardless of their income level. In addition, our Store Assistance Program makes goods available to customers at no cost if they are referred by another agency. This program helps ensure that everyone has the opportunity to obtain the items they need to improve their homes and their lives.

Volunteers

At COVER, we believe that volunteers are the driving force behind our efforts. Without the support of our dedicated volunteers, we would not be able to provide the services that our community needs.
