Steve's journey in the industry started with a civil engineering degree from Valparaiso University in 1988. He refined his skills in the Chicago area, specializing in construction quality control testing. After earning his master's degree in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Steve began building houses under the mentorship of a reputable North Carolina home builder. In 1996, Benchmark Custom Homes was officially established, with Steve's first home featured in the October Parade of Homes that same year.

At Benchmark Custom Homes, we're committed to staying ahead of the curve. We've earned designations from the Home Builders Association, including Graduate Master Builder, Certified Aging in Place Specialist, and Certified Green Builder. We're also proud to be a licensed professional engineer registered in North Carolina and to build Energy Star Certified Homes. Our team's dedication to customer care is unmatched, with superintendents Glenn Johnson and Bob Reitz providing expert guidance throughout the construction process.
