Our History

OxCart was founded in 2006 in Dallas, TX by awning industry veteran Chris Lewis. The company started as a traditional awning shop, but as it grew, it expanded into new types of shade structures like projection canopies and standing seam awnings. The company's passion for innovation led to the implementation of new ideas and approaches, such as SolidWorks 3D modeling and the addition of automated press breaks and waterjets to further expand its product offering.

After Chris's passing in 2017, the company was purchased by its minority partners, Deb and Steve Martz. Mark Abernathy joined the team and saw tremendous potential in the people, processes, and fabrication already in place. In 2018, Mark purchased the company's assets and started OxCart Manufacturing, focusing on the signage and awnings industries. Today, OxCart is a leading manufacturer of high-quality awnings and architectural elements.
