The firm of Steven C. Shell, Architect was established in 1987 and has been providing exceptional architectural services to both small and large clients ever since. Our firm believes in the importance of prompt service, and we handle all projects personally, from client meetings and design to production control, scheduling, construction administration, and regulatory agency proceedings. We utilize state-of-the-art Building Information Modeling (BIM) software to provide full 3D modeling and accurate documents for our clients.

One of our particular specialties is remodeling, renovations, and additions to existing facilities. These types of projects require a high level of attention to detail and several on-site inspections and investigative work. Our goal is to create a harmonious project that integrates both new and existing construction to provide an attractive, functional, economical, and uniform design that best serves the client's needs.

Zoning Related Work

Our firm has extensive experience in zoning-related work. We have served as the Zoning Examiner for the City of Tucson for two years and have served on various City Boards, Committees & Commissions for over 28 years. Our principal, Steven C. Shell, has served as the Chairman of the City of Tucson's Board of Adjustment for 8 years, the Vice-Chair of the City's Sign Code Advisory & Appeals Board for 2 years, and the Chairman for the City's Board of Adjustment & Design Review Boards for 16 years. He was appointed by the Mayor & Council to head up the City Manager's new Development & Planning Services Center Advisory Council (Stake Holders Committee) to oversee the City's efforts to help make the permitting and development process easier, faster, and more friendly.

Building Information Modeling (BIM)

Our firm has been using Autodesk Revit, a 3D parametric modeling software program that is the foundation of Building Information Modeling (BIM), since 2003. We are "Professionally Certified" in Revit by Autodesk and are authorized to teach Revit Architecture. Steven C. Shell is the co-founder and co-chairperson of the "Southern Arizona Revit Users Group". Our principal has lectured at various schools, architecture firms, architectural and building Industry related organizations, construction companies, and manufacturing companies across the country. He has received several international and national speaking awards, including the "Top Speaker Award" at the RTC - Europe, Central States, Mountain States and Pacific Coast BIM Workshops and the Top Rated speaker award for his Round Table presentation in 2015, 2017, and 2019 at Autodesk Univerisity (AU) in Las Vegas.

Consulting

Our principal, Steven C. Shell, is a Revit & BIM consultant to several large Architecture firms, companies, and manufacturers, including the Walt Disney Imagineering Group in California, with their efforts to switch from AutoCAD to Revit.
