Empowering Independence for Individuals with Vision Loss

At the Pennsylvania Association for the Blind (PAB), we have been dedicated to positively impacting the lives of Pennsylvanians with visual impairments since our founding in 1910. Our vision is to be the leading organization for information, resources, and advocacy regarding services for those who are visually impaired. We strive to ensure the effective use of public and/or private funds by our member agencies to provide essential services to those in need.

As a network of 25 Member Agencies across the state, we serve over 60,000 Pennsylvanians annually. With over 110 years of experience, we understand the unique needs of individuals with vision loss. Whether you are the parent of a blind child, a veteran, or an older adult looking to connect with peers who are experiencing similar issues, we offer customized instruction and support to improve your quality of life or that of a loved one.

Our Services

Our member agencies provide innovative programs and resources to local communities across Pennsylvania. These services are designed to meet the individual needs of Pennsylvanians with vision impairment, including:

  • Instruction in daily living activities
  • Orientation and mobility instruction
  • Summer instructional programs for children
  • Counseling and case management
  • Access technology instruction
  • Low vision examinations
  • In-home supportive services
  • Adjustment to blindness support groups

Through our member agencies with years of experience and professional staff, we ensure that individuals of all circumstances obtain the skills and tools they need to lead productive, independent lives beyond the constraints that were once assumed to be part of vision loss. For more information on services available to you and your loved one, contact your local member agency.
