Heidelberg Materials is a leading supplier of cement, aggregates, ready mixed concrete, and asphalt with over 450 locations and approximately 9,000 employees in North America. Our company has a rich history dating back over a century, with roots tracing back to 1897 when Lehigh Cement Company was founded in Ormrod, Pennsylvania.

Our Company

Heidelberg Materials' story began when Lehigh Cement Company started as a single-mill operation producing Portland cement. The company thrived as the demand for concrete increased and grew through a series of acquisitions, modernization, and increased productivity. In 1964, Hanson Trust was formed by James Hanson and Gordon White, which expanded through acquisitions and became a multinational concern with interests in chemicals, construction, energy, tobacco, and other industries. In 2007, Heidelberg Cement acquired Hanson PLC, creating a multinational provider of cement, aggregates, ready mixed concrete, and other construction materials.
