Our Story

The company was founded by Melvin L. "Chip" Schlegel Jr., who has a lifelong passion for heavy equipment and excavation. Growing up, Chip worked alongside his father on various projects, including lumbering and equipment operation. After working for a large construction company, Chip decided to start his own business to be closer to his family and to make a difference in his community. Today, Schlegel Excavating, Inc. is a thriving business with twelve employees, all dedicated to delivering exceptional service to our clients.
